Undark Magazine is a nonprofit, editorially independent digital magazine published through MIT's Knight Science Journalism Fellowship Program. The magazine explores the intersection between science and society and all of the beauty and ugliness contained therein. To commemorate their fourth year of publication, Undark leadership commissioned a limited print-run anthology edition of some of the publication's most popular stories. The anthology design needed to account for various formats, from short-form opinions to long-form, research-driven articles to photo essays, while maintaining an overall visual rhythm that drew readers through the book. The final, nearly-hundred-page perfect-bound book was housed in a recycled paper sleeve to protect it as it was hand-distributed at conferences and fundraising events to key university and publication stakeholders.
